Children's Ministry
Here at River Valley our goal is to help children develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and build a Biblical foundation, so that they may stand firm in their faith. To accomplish this, we desire to partner with parents as we help children grow in Christ.
"Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." Proverbs 22:6
Sunday Mornings
Ages 0-2: At River Valley, we have a room designed for an adult to accompany their little one to play in. We have a changing table, crib, rocking chair, and little toys available for your use.
Ages 2-6: Each week children ages 2-6 are invited to the playroom after the worship time in the service. There the children play and are taught a Bible story and throughout the morning, we reinforce the lesson in fun activities. Parents are given informational papers to discuss with their child throughout the week.
Ages 7-12: Children ages 7-12 are encouraged to worship with their parents, then head to a Sunday school class designed for their age group. During this time, the children hear a Bible lesson, participate in a reinforcing activity, and are sent home with a thought and memory verse for the week.
All of our helpers are dedicated to showing each child Christ's love and helping them feel like a valuable part of our church family. Parents are encouraged to talk with their children about the lessons they learn each Sunday. Much learning can take place in the casual discussion of God between parent and child.
"Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." Deuteronomy 11:19

Valentine's Date Night
Happy Valentine's Day! At River Valley (888. S. Edgelawn Unit 1731), we are going to have a party for kids of various ages. We will have games, a craft, pizza, and a movie (Veggie Tales: Silly Little Thing Called Love). We will be talking about God's love and how we can love others! We hope that the parents can use this free time for a date night. It will be on Saturday, February 11th from 5:00-8:00pm. We are asking for parents to pay $2.00 per child or $5.00 for families of 3 or more, to help cover the cost of food.

Parenting Seminar
National Center for Biblical Parenting will be presenting a Live Parenting Seminar
“Dealing with Anger and Bad Attitudes in Children” Thursday evening, April 26, from
6:30 - 9:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church (325 East Downer Place Aurora, Illinois 60505). This will be led by Dr. Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller RN, BSN, nationally known speakers on Christian parenting. We are very pleased that they are willing to come to our city, and we hope to spread the word in order to have a great crowd on this one evening.
There is a cost: $20 per person, or $30 per couple.
